Brucifire has been monitoring the situation and protecting the young family as much as he could. Lo and behold, it was not enough and the Oyster Catcher couple are starting all over again.

Bird Watchers Attacked by a DOG
Bruce met up with some his old friend birdies – an experienced couple who pay their respects to the Oyster Catcher’s plight to survive man’s ever-increasing onslaught on the sacred breeding grounds of the rare and dwindling Oyster Catcher population, each and every year.
And a dog attacked them. A Rottweiler attacked the dedicated birding couple and injuries were sustained by the elderly gentleman. Finally, this has involved the policeman in charge. The transgressors were fined R1000. But this was not enough as more dogs off leashes can be spotted at this beautiful beach daily.

This theme is playing out dreadfully all up and down the Cape Coast. Wherever there are humans. We are going to need to address the plight of the Oyster Catcher at every beach.
Maybe the planned boardwalk, in combination with NO DOGS on the beach – will save the day for this our bird in need.
