Tales from The JBay Dunes – Whale Tails Nogal
Tales from The JBay Dunes – Whale Tails NogaI: seems that here in the coastal towns of South Africa – wherever people settle into a new town, like when they retire or something – they form these weird organisations.
That seems to entitle them to adapt the natural environment to what they want. This story is about a whale tail in JBay, but for context, please read on after the video.

As to what has happened in Onrus recently. The Onrus Estuary Forum (ONREF) was formed, and they used this organisation, to put glyphosate directly into their very own estuary.
Amphibious creatures suffer immensely from glyphosate. And once it is in the food system, anything eaten from the ocean in and around the area can result in the terrible incidence of teratogenicity.
Studies have found embryos of certain frogs that were experimented on, were “generalized edema, cardiac and abdominal edema, improper gut formation, and axial malformations”.
- Teratogenicity of Glyphosate:
- Research has explored the impact of glyphosate-based formulations on embryonic development.
- Using the Frog Embryo Teratogenesis Assay-Xenopus (FETAX) protocol, scientists assessed the embryotoxicity and teratogenicity of three glyphosate formulations: Roundup, Kilo Max, and Enviro Glyphosate.
- Embryotoxicity refers to the ability to harm embryos, while teratogenicity refers to causing birth defects.
- The study exposed embryos of Xenopus laevis (a frog species) to different concentrations of these formulations.
- The results showed that:
- Roundup was more toxic than the other formulations, with a 96-hour lethal concentration (LC50) of 1.05 mg acid equivalent (a.e.)/L.
- Kilo Max and Enviro Glyphosate had higher LC50 values: 207 mg a.e./L and 466 mg a.e./L, respectively.
- All three formulations exhibited some inhibition of embryo-larva growth, but the effect was not significant.
- For teratogenicity:
- Roundup and Enviro Glyphosate showed increasing teratogenic traces, with teratogenic indices of 1.7 and 1.6, respectively.
- Kilo Max had low teratogenicity, with a teratogenic index of 1.4.
- Malformations induced by these formulations included generalized edema, cardiac and abdominal edema, improper gut formation, and axial malformations.
- The study suggests that these formulations could potentially disrupt physiological and ecological health, particularly concerning teratogenicity and growth disruption1.
- Glyphosate Safety Overall:
- Glyphosate itself has been studied extensively. According to existing research:
- Glyphosate does not exhibit neurotoxicity, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, or genotoxicity2.
- However, the specific formulations containing glyphosate may have varying effects, as seen in the FETAX study.
- Glyphosate itself has been studied extensively. According to existing research:
There are many conflicting opinions out there, on the use of glyphosate. But common consensus keeps glyphosate out of sensitive ecosystems.
Especially near where people swim, surf and fish!
For what you might definitely ask?
For a “place of purpose” is their clearly annotated response (we have the documentation which ONREF conveniently published on their website, downloaded and ready to be used as evidence). To create a place of purpose, this forum poisoned the reeds. And the entire ecosystem living within them. And around them.
Imagine the far-reaching damage on benthic (estuarine) marine organisms relying on these estuaries to survive and propagate our ocean marine life population? The very population we rely on for everything from tourism to planetary health.
And obviously, there isn’t an authority interested anywhere.
Estuary murder – he wrote.
Ok back to the whale tale of a story…
Dorp van Drolle
In Jbay, we have the Dorp van Drolle. Oh, I mean the Dorp van Drome! A very cheap plagiarism of the Credo Metwa’s holy proclamation when he christened this place – “The Place of Dreams.”
“Indawo Yamapupo.”
May aswell mean Place of Poephols. Boardwalks. Dogs. Drolle. Whale tails in the sensitive dune area?
The recent whale tail statue built right in the sensitive dune area is another prime example of humans changing nature to suit themselves. Over the desperate chirping of the Oyster Catchers, more of their environment will now be swarming with humans.
Why don’t you all go back to where you came from – your couch or your office?
And give the Oyster Catchers a chance?
